SCOA’s policy and advocacy work is grounded in the lived experiences of the communities our members serve. We engage in rigorous research, sector-wide consultation, and cross-sector partnerships to ensure that government policy supports effective, equitable, and sustainable settlement outcomes. SCOA has consistently advocated for the professionalisation, accessibility, and cultural competence of language services as a critical enabler of rights and inclusion for refugee and migrant communities.
We welcome the opportunity to provide input on NAATI’s proposed Language Service Provider (LSP) Endorsement Model and commend NAATI for its efforts to lift quality, standardisation, and accountability in the language services sector. We particularly support the development of endorsement standards that address the persistent inconsistencies in language service provision and provide a framework for equitable access to essential services.
