Facilitator: Hala Abdelnour

This training is designed to better support settlement workers and associated stakeholders in engaging people using family violence.

SCoA understands that although settlement services are not necessarily funded or structured to provide FDV support by virtue of their position as a culturally competent support organisation, they are often front-line responders.

In addition to the intrinsic issues in engaging perpetrators of FDV, dealing with these issues in the context of cultural differences can be a challenge for our sector.

This training aims to address critical aspects of these challenges, specifically:

  • identifying tactics of abuse,
  • invitations to collude,
  • safe engagement, and
  • referral pathways and employee support.
