The Australian Migrant Resource Centre (AMRC), in partnership with SA Health, is delivering a series of community education workshops on health and wellbeing to people from new and establishing communities. The first session was held in late May 2019 at the Adelaide Multicultural Centre and focused on digestive health including the benefits of bowel screening. The session was attended by participants of Afghan and Iranian background. Next month, another session will be held at the centre with a focus on women’s health including the benefits of a pap smear test and cervix screening. The Northern Area Migrant Resource Centre (NAMRC) will also hold a conversation about cancer awareness and prevention, supported by the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea.
