MEMBERSHIP: Associate Member
IWAA is funded by The Department of Social Services (DSS) under the Settlement Grants Program (SGP) which provides assistance for new arrivals (including refugees and humanitarian entrants) to settle in Australia. Specifically, the SGP assists clients overcome barriers that may prevent them from successfully establishing their life in Australia.
The program aims to help clients who have been living in Australia for over 6 months and less than 5 years become independent and active members of the wider community.
Services provided through the Program include but are not limited to:
• Information and referral
• Individualised casework
• School-based homework clubs
• Social support and networking
• Advocacy and assistance
• Employment support
• Driving and road safety skills
Individuals are assisted across a range of settlement needs including: networking, education, learning English, life skills, developing common goals, reducing isolation and building a sense of identity and belonging.
