Have your say on the future of Australia’s settlement grants
DHA Discussion Paper: Reforming Australia’s Settlement Grants Programs SCOA National Consultation
The Department of Home Affairs is consulting on the future design of settlement support services currently delivered through SETS, YTS and EPRI.
The discussion paper can be accessed here: Discussion Paper: Reforming Australia’s Settlement Grants Programs September 2026
The discussion paper asks how these services can better support migrants and humanitarian entrants to build social connections, navigate key transitions and participate economically in Australia.
SCOA is holding a series of national consultations to ensure the experience, expertise and concerns of the settlement sector are heard. We want to understand the strengths of current arrangements; what must be retained; where service pathways can be improved; and the practical safeguards needed to ensure any future model works for diverse communities, specialist services, and local, regional and remote providers.
There is no predetermined model. This is the sector’s opportunity to put forward evidence, ideas and practical lessons that should inform the next stage of co-design.
Your input will shape SCOA’s submission and advocacy throughout the reform process.
Consultations commence next week. Register via the links.
