Internships and Careers at SCoA

Careers & Internships

No vacancies to advertise, check again later.

An internship at SCOA will give you the opportunity to see first-hand how a national peak organisation operates. You will be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the organisation, with a focus on research and policy development.

SCOA aims to ensure interns receive a meaningful experience developing their skills for future employment.  Intern projects vary depending on SCOA’s current activities.  Each intern will be provided with a project brief tailored to their internship.  Interns may be asked to undertake ad hoc activities and attend various sector meetings and consultations.  These additional tasks will provide insight into the settlement sector.

At times you will be required to work independently, so a certain level of autonomy is expected for this internship.  The team is very supportive of each other, and are committed to creating a learning environment for those completing an internship with SCOA.

Who are we looking for?

  • Someone who is organised, who has demonstrated written and oral communication skills and a passion for community and social development.
  • Someone with a strong attention to detail.
  • Someone who shows initiative in their work and is able to work autonomously and/or as part of a small team.
  • Someone who is flexible and open to taking on varied tasks at short notice.

You do not necessarily have to have any experience in the settlement sector, but you will be interested in learning more about refugee and migrant settlement in Australia.
