  • Regular Member updates with information from across the sector;
  • Member briefings on priority and emerging issues;

Make Your Voice Heard

SCOA is the voice for migrant and refugee settlement in Australia, we shape the policy that shapes our sector.

We are in constant conversation with our members, collating their experiences and then making policy recommendations accordingly.

SCOA members:

  • Provide input into our advocacy work and policy submissions through regular member consultations;
  • Meet with SCoA Executive and staff to discuss shared policy and advocacy priorities;
  • Collaborate in sector wide initiatives and join SCoA advocacy on the issues that matter most to you;
  • SCoA members can vote at SCoA General Meetings and can nominate a representative of a member organisation for membership of the SCoA National Executive.
  • Associate membership is a valuable alternative for organisations from allied sectors, other peak bodies, or organisations that provide more informal support to migrants and refugees.

SCOA offers to its members a range of resources, webinars and training options valuable to the sector; as well as exclusive access to funding SCOA receives with tailored support to deliver projects of benefit to your local communities.

    Member Eligibility

    Membership of SCOA is open to organisations that are contributing substantially to the settlement and participation of migrants and refugees to Australia.

    SCOA’s membership covers a range of service providers, from small volunteer-based community organisations to larger settlement providers, alongside agencies from allied sectors such as education institutions or legal services. Despite their diversity in nature, all SCOA members are united by their commitment to an Australia where all people of migrant and refugee backgrounds belong, thrive and experience fulfilling lives.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Full membership

    Full membership is available to organisations specifically funded to deliver settlement services.

    These are organisations that provide settlement services as core business or deliver a comprehensive range of services to migrants and refugees supporting them in their settlement journey.

    This includes organisations funded for the following programs:

    • The Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) Program
    • The Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP)
    • The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP)
    • Other organisations whose main purpose is supporting migrants and refugees in their settlement journey.

    Associate membership:

    Associate membership is available to organisations whose activities aligns with SCOA’s vision of an inclusive Australia where all people of migrant and refugee backgrounds belong, thrive and experience fulfilling lives, however whose core business is not funded settlement service provision.

    This includes:

    • Ethno-specific communities
    • Local community groups or associations
    • Organisations in allied sectors (e.g. research institutions, education providers, legal service providers, health providers, employment organisations, housing support, LGAs)
    • Peak bodies

    Membership fees are set on a sliding scale determined by your organisation’s annual income.
