The Institute of non-violence launched on 25 November 2020, coinciding with the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the #16DaysofActivism.
Institute of non-violence (IoNV) aims to be a collaborator in the space of family violence service delivery. With a niche expertise in intersectional practice, IoNV delivers clinical, educational and social programs that focus on family violence perpetrators. The immediate focus for the business is designing and delivering professional training and ongoing consultancy on family violence, for companies and organisations of all types and sizes.
Of the launch, Hala Abdelnour, CEO and founder, says, ‘Our vision is to create a world where non-violence is the social norm by advancing our response to family, gendered and social violence. Today’s launch marks an important step forward in taking part in advocacy and public conversation about the best and safest response to family violence.’
To mark the launch, the Institute partnered with talented poet and former Australian slam champion Luka Lesson, to explore family violence through poetry and art. His exclusive new poem/song, ‘A Letter to My Daughter’ premiered on the IoNV Facebook page at 8pm AEST 25 November and continues to feature in the Resource Library of their website.
IoNV look forward to working in collaboration with the sector, applying an intersectional framework to the practice. Subscribe to their mailing list or contact them to start a conversation.
