Celebrating Harmony Day around the sector

Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Below is a selection of events from SCoA’s Members.

 

AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY


Harmony Day – Everyone Belongs

SCOA, MARSS, Legal Aid ACT, Australian Red Cross, Companion House and Multicultural Youth Services ACT are joining forces to host a lunchtime celebration of Harmony Day.

Settlement Council of Australia

SCOA and MARSS invite you to join us in celebrating Harmony Day with this special film screening of popular Australian movie “Ali’s Wedding”. Released in 2017 as Australia’s first feel-good Muslim rom-com, this film shows the narrative of an average Australian family. A light refreshment will be provided at 7:00pm for a 7.30pm screening.

Canberra Multicultural Community Forum

World Peace Bell Harmony Day Event. Bring a picnic and/or enjoy a free sausage sizzle. Performances from some local multicultural groups.

Launching a powerful new book about Middle Eastern settlement in South Australia, featuring an exhibition of photos, followed by a concert of music, songs, dance, poetry and stories from people of Afghani, Iranian, Iraqi, Lebanese, Kurdish, Armenian and Syrian backgrounds.

As part of the project, banners are sponsored by organisations (including Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Centre), and displayed along prominent Kings Park Road in WA. The banners will be displayed along Kings Park Road from 11 to 25 March 2018.
