NSW Interpreter Scholarship Program and Information Session (Applications close 5 March 2019)

Multicultural NSW is offering fully funded scholarships for people who speak certain languages to participate in an interpreter training course at TAFE NSW.

Course graduates will be eligible to become Recognised Practicing Interpreters with the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters, and may be offered employment opportunities with Multicultural NSW.

The program is offered to people who meet the eligibility criteria and speak Assyrian, Burmese, Chaldean, Greek, Italian, Kirundi, Khmer, Kurmanji Kurdish, Maltese, Mongolian, Nepalese, Tamil, Thai, Tibetan, Tigrinya, Tongan, Pashto, Rohingya, Samoan, Somali and Vietnamese.

To be eligible for a scholarship you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen, or have permanent residency (consideration will be given to applications from asylum seekers)
  • Successfully complete an English language proficiency test conducted by TAFE NSW

There is also an information session in Coffs Harbour, NSW on 5 March 2019 from 9-11:30am.

Registrations will be accepted until 5 March 2019 for Semester 1 2019.
