Supporting migrants and refugees
Farnham Street Neighbourhood Learning Centre (FSNLC) has been providing education and social support programs to the Flemington community and nearby areas for over 30 years. Job talk, our new program, has gained increasing popularity among the CALD community. Our strong working relationship with the Flemington Community Centre and the SCoA Member,Brotherhood of St Laurence and their Given the Chance Jobs Victoria program, has been crucial to the success of Job talk.
Our program assists jobseekers from migrant and refugee backgrounds to navigate the job application process and improve their communication and interview skills. We strive to offer CALD jobseekers a personalised service by helping them identify their skills, qualities and career goals as well as the gaps and barriers to employment readiness some face (English language skills, digital literacy or lack of information on education and employment pathways).
Subject to eligibility, we give them information about our English and literacy programs and computer courses and connect them to other local organisations that can also help them overcome these barriers.
Our dedicated team understands the need for an ongoing support network where new and returning jobseekers can receive the help, guidance and information to successfully transition to further education, training and employment.
