Illawarra Multicultural Services

Illawarra Multicultural Services (IMS) began supporting the culturally & linguistically diverse (CALD) population in the Illawarra in August 1980, providing assistance to migrants, humanitarian entrants and refugees.

IMS provides settlement support, information and referral services, in the form of casework, community programs for families & youth, parenting programs and innovative capacity building initiatives. IMS also provides support coordination for the NDIS and IMS has recently expanded its services into the Shoalhaven region.

IMS promotes community building through a number of programs aimed at celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion. In 2019, IMS led activities to celebrate Harmony Day and held events on every day of Refugee Week, which included a Writing Competition that attracted entries from members of several CALD communities and from all ages.
